SUMMARY:Archaeology Summer Camp: Rosemont School\, Sandyford (29th June - 3rd July) - Week 1
DESCRIPTION:Archaeology Summer Camp: Rosemont School\, Sandyford (29th June – 3rd July) – Week 1\nOur week-long camps provide a new and fascinating alternative to sports-themed clubs and other after-school activities for children aged 7 – 12 years old. Is your child a curious explorer with a thirst for knowledge about their past? Why not let them delve into the fascinating world of archaeology as we introduce children to the mysteries and adventures of our past in a fun\, practical and hands-on way.\nOur camps special ingredient for success is our form of active learning encouraging your child to learn how our ancestors adapted to their natural environment. By teaching children to use simple tools and raw materials we harness your children’s desire to learn more about ancient crafts and technologies in past societies. Our workshop activities utilise these ancient skills creating an understanding of the greatest innovations and civilisations the world has ever seen.\nWe use an ‘Indiana Jones’ approach to ensure your child gets a balance of time\, outdoors and indoors. As well as taking part in their very own excavations and exciting activity workshops\, children will also arrive home with an abundance of new and quirky knowledge about their ancient ancestors.\nPlease note: If your child has any specific additional needs or requires a SNA in school\, The SIA will need the accompaniment of a guardian or special needs assistant (SNA) throughout the duration of the camp. If your child suffers from any illness or medical condition you must notify SIA. Our staff are all vetted\, experienced and trained when it comes to working with children\, however\, in order to have the best needs of the children in mind and their time with us is enjoyed\, we would encourage parents and guardians to contact us if they have any concerns. For further information please contact us at info@sia.ie. \nDates: \n29th June – 3rd July 2026 \nTimes: \n10am – 3pm (Monday – Friday) \nAge Suitability: \n7 – 12 years old \nSome of these ancient crafts & activities will include: \n– Viking House Excavation (The Big Dig)\n– The First Farmers & Clay Pot Making\n – Passage Tomb Reconstruction Workshop\n – Historical Quest & Archaeological Tours\n – Ancient Crafts & Technologies\n – Viking Axe Making Workshop\n – Medieval Castle Workshop\n – Archery Workshop\n – Ancient Textiles and Weaving\n – Viking Bead Making\n – Medieval Weaponry\n – Viking Runes\n – Environmental Archaeology\n – Monastic Ireland\nOur Team \nWe have a team of qualified and very experienced teachers and archaeologists who have worked on numerous excavations throughout Ireland.
